At past 7am today, fire broke out at the 66-year old ADZU Brebeuf Gym. Students and staff were immediately evacuated to the front and back fields. The fire spread to nearby College, Sauras, and smaller student organization buildings. Firemen controlled the fire from further spreading. Fire Out declared at 948H.
Everyone is safe. The whole gym was razed to the ground. Computer and science laboratories, the canteen were completely burned. Law school offices, library, and classrooms were badly damaged. Faculty workrooms and offices were partially burned and damaged. The ADZU University Band office was burned.
We thank our City Mayor Beng Climaco, Sir Clint Cha and the Bureau of Fire Protection, the ZC Water District, Volunteer Chinese Brigade, Kabalikat Civicom, KCC, Aleson, Red Cross, D’Alert, N Volunteer, UZ, our service personnel, the media, and others who helped us.
Please join us in a SOLIDARITY MASS FOR ADZU, tomorrow, July 8, 2016, 5PM at the University Church. We will update you on the situation, and how you can help in rebuilding from the fire.
“HOW CAN WE HELP?” In response to the query of so many friends, you can help by helping ADZU recover from so many losses and damages caused by the fire. We expect the total losses (we are still determining it) to reach over 100M.
