When Pope Francis led a day of prayer vigil and fasting for peace in Syria and throughout the world last September 7, an estimated crowd of 100,000 gathered in St.Petre’s square to join him, with countless more joining him in various parts of the world. Closer to home, the doors of the Oratory of St. Ignatius in the Loyola House of Studies were opened to the many faithful filipinos and friends who spent the night in vigil with the Jesuits.
Pope Francis reminded those who were present during hte prayer vigil that harmony and peace should be everyone’s deisre and that we should all carry this desire in our hearts. “Forgiveness, dialogue, reconciliation-these are the words of peace, in beloved Syria, in the Middle East , in all the world! Let us pray for reconciliation and peace, and let us all become, in every place, men and women of reconciliation and peace!” the pope added in his address to the crowd during the four hour vigil.
