AIR Opens Silver Jubilee Celebration!
Arrupe House formally opened its Silver Jubilee on 05 February 2015, the 24th death anniversary of Fr. Pedro Arrupe, the inspiration of the House. As its “opening salvo,” the AIR community joined with Loyola House for mass and dinner. This is now to be a tradition between the two houses in the spirit of common remembrance of and gratitude to Don Pedro. AIR Rector (Fr. Pops) presided over the Eucharist and also gave the homily. After mass, agape followed at the LHS Refectory. This time, AIR provided the main course while LHS provided the pre-prands and the dessert and rice. It was truly a lovely evening of brotherly friendship and companionship in the Lord.
The highlight of the Jubilee celebration will be on November 14, 2015, on the birthday of Fr. Arrupe. The House is planning some activities throughout the year but especially on that day. If it materializes, the plan is to invite representatives from the different groups of AIR alumni, along with former AIR formators.
The next celebratory activity will be the Community Annual Retreat on July 16-24 in Baguio to be directed by Fr. Riyo Mursanto, S.J., former Provincial of Indonesia.
We look forward to the cooperation of the Alumni especially in sharing with us some of their experiences at AIR that are worth remembering and sharing with others, and in their constant prayers – that this House which had become their home in the past may continue to be a home and a “mother” for other brothers in the universal Society.
