Arrupeans Welcomed 2015
After their respective evening masses on New Year’s Eve, Arrupeans gathered as usual at the Arrupe Heights to greet the new year. While waiting, some busied themselves with singing and a little dancing; others did the grilling of chicken wings and fish! At 11:00 pm when almost everyone was back and present, the eating started after a short prayer of thanksgiving and blessing by Fr. Tom. One could sense the predominant feeling of excitement and of gratitude as one year came to a close and another one was unfolding. Then, 20 seconds before the stroke of midnight, Fr. Rector led the countdown: 20, 19, 18…. Happy New Year!!! Sparkling wine bottles burst open and every one gave a toast to 2015, full of hopes and desires, amid all the tragedies that befell in 2014. As they say in Italian, “La speranza e l’ultima da morire” (Hope is the last thing to die).
